Welcome to the Prikka service!

Turku Museum Centre collects memories from Southwest Finland. We record not only the past but also the present. Today's experiences and memories are stored in the museum's archives for future generations.

We are interested in everyday life, large and small phenomena, significant events and imperceptible changes. Share your memories from recent history and experiences from today with us.

Help us record what it is like to live in today's Southwest Finland. On this site, you can respond to the museum's surveys on various topics and read memories written by others.

Are you familiar with the instructions? Do you want to go directly to the memories?

On the Prikka.fi site, you can respond to the museum's surveys, that is, write your own memories and experiences of the present and the recent history. You can also upload photos you have taken or photos you own if you want them to be stored in the museum's collections. You can also read memories written by others. When you respond to a survey, you can decide whether you want to share the memory you have written on the site for everyone to read or send it to the museum only. Once the survey has been closed, the memories can still be read on the site, even though the survey is no longer open.

Remember to not mention people by their full name or in a manner so that they can be otherwise recognised. Memories cannot include unnecessary or sensitive personal data, such as matters related to the health, religion, ethnicity or sexual/gender orientation of another person that can be identified. Only share your own memories and only upload photos you have taken or photos you own. You are responsible for the content of the material you have produced and uploaded. Remember to ask for permission from concerned parties if the photos show people that can be identified. The photographer must always be mentioned if known.

A person writing the memory must be aged 18 or over.

Memories and photos will automatically appear on the site if you do not set the memories to private. Turku Museum Centre may use the material in all museum activities. The purpose of storing the data is to preserve cultural heritage and related information in the museum's collections. The memories and photos you donate are important to the museum. They enable us to tell future generations about the present and recent history. The stored material can be used, for example, in museum exhibitions and publications. The museum is not responsible for how third parties use the material. The name of the photographer is mentioned according to good practices when using the material. The photographer may choose to use a nickname instead of their name for the photo on the Prikka.fi website.

The photographer retains the copyright to the photo to the extent specified in the Copyright Act with some exceptions. The recipient of the right of use, that is, the museum, has the right to reproduce photos in all possible formats and in all contexts related to its domain and use without a separate permit or compensation. This right is valid for an unlimited period worldwide and without restrictions on use in all media, including the internet.

How often will a new survey be published on the site?

Turku Museum Centre publishes surveys in the Prikka service a few times a year. Sometimes surveys may be published more frequently, for example on a current topic.

How can I send a memory only to the museum?

If you want your memories and photos to be visible only to the museum and not publicly on the Prikka.fi site, you can choose Private as visibility when you are writing the memory.

Please note that the memories marked as private are also available to the museum in other museum activities, such as exhibitions and publications.

Name or nickname of the photographer?

If you wish, you can choose whether the photo you left on the Prikka.fi service is displayed with your name or under a nickname. In case of further use, the museum will use the real name of the photographer in connection with the photograph.

Can I edit my memory after publishing?

If you want to edit a memory you have published, you can do so in the My memories section as long as the survey is open. You cannot edit your answer once the survey has closed. If you want to edit your access settings after the survey has closed, contact the museum.

Can I report an inappropriate memory?

If you notice that someone else's memory contains inappropriate content or information subject to privacy protection, you can report the memory. The memory will be removed from the site while the matter is being processed. Please note that the notification can only be made by a user who has logged in to the site.
